(O Hari, an address which can also be read as O divine energy)
(O Rama)
(O Krishna)
This sixteen word chant calls again and again on Hari, Rama and Krishna. What matters here is less a sentence to be parsed and more the act of remembrance, calling the names themselves, over and over.
About this mantra
This mantra occurs in the Kali-Santarana Upanishad, where Brahma tells Narada that chanting these sixteen words is the one remedy for the troubles of the present age.
From the time of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu this mantra spread widely through sankirtana, though the mantra itself is as old as the Upanishad.

For life today
Those who chant it say the repetition of the same words steadies the mind. Returning to this simple chant when thoughts scatter can be a support.
