Context and commentary on verse 14.26
Arjuna’s third question, ‘how does he pass beyond’, is answered here: unswerving devotion. Ramanuja gives a notable reason: the gunas cannot be crossed by reflecting on the distinction of prakriti and the self, as in ‘nanyam gunebhyah kartaram’ (14.19), alone, since impressions to the contrary, running from beginningless time, may obstruct it. One who takes refuge in him, whose will is always true and whose compassion is supreme, crosses them. Sridhara Swami too calls this the answer to the question ‘how’, and reads the word ‘cha’ as ‘me alone’.
Shankara takes ‘me’ as the Lord Narayana dwelling in the hearts of all beings, and notes that this path is for all, renunciate or man of action. ‘Brahmabhuya’ for him is becoming Brahman itself, liberation. Madhva’s sense is distinctive: ‘brahmabhuya’ is becoming dear to the Lord as Brahma or prakriti are, not to that same degree, but dearness itself. He quotes the Padma Purana: bound or released, none is as dear to Hari as Rama, that is, Lakshmi. It is not the work of this page to judge between these differences.

For life today
Ramanuja’s word also states a psychological truth: understanding alone is not enough to change old habits. Many know smoking is harmful and still cannot give it up.
Such change needs support: faith, the backing of those close to us, group help, a doctor’s treatment. Asking for support is not weakness but wisdom.
