ಪೂಜೆಯ ಕೊನೆಯ ಹಂತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವೀಳ್ಯದೆಲೆ, ಅಡಿಕೆ, ಕರ್ಪೂರ ಸೇರಿಸಿದ ತಾಂಬೂಲ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವಾಗ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಂತ್ರ ಇದು.
ದೊಡ್ಡದಾದ, ದಿವ್ಯವಾದ ಅಡಿಕೆ, ವೀಳ್ಯದೆಲೆ, ಕರ್ಪೂರ ಪುಡಿ ಸೇರಿದ ತಾಂಬೂಲವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಈ ಮಂತ್ರ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.

ಪೂಗೀಫಲಂ ಮಹದ್ದಿವ್ಯಂ ನಾಗವಲ್ಲೀದಲೈರ್ಯುತಮ್ ।
ಕರ್ಪೂರಚೂರ್ಣಸಂಯುಕ್ತಂ ತಾಂಬೂಲಂ ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯತಾಮ್ ॥

पूगीफलं महद्दिव्यं नागवल्लीदलैर्युतम् ।
कर्पूरचूर्णसंयुक्तं ताम्बूलं प्रतिगृह्यताम् ॥

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಪೂಗೀಫಲಮ್ ಮಹತ್ ದಿವ್ಯಮ್ (पूगीफलम् महत् दिव्यम्, pūgīphalam mahat divyam) = ದೊಡ್ಡದಾದ ದಿವ್ಯ ಅಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು (the great, divine areca nut)
- ನಾಗವಲ್ಲೀದಲೈಃ ಯುತಮ್ (नागवल्लीदलैः युतम्, nāgavallīdalaiḥ yutam) = ವೀಳ್ಯದೆಲೆಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ (together with betel leaves)
- ಕರ್ಪೂರಚೂರ್ಣಸಂಯುಕ್ತಮ್ (कर्पूरचूर्णसंयुक्तम्, karpūracūrṇasaṃyuktam) = ಕರ್ಪೂರದ ಪುಡಿಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ (together with camphor powder)
- ತಾಂಬೂಲಂ ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯತಾಮ್ (ताम्बूलं प्रतिगृह्यताम्, tāmbūlaṃ pratigṛhyatām) = ಈ ತಾಂಬೂಲವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಬೇಕು (may this tambula be accepted)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ದೊಡ್ಡದಾದ ದಿವ್ಯ ಅಡಿಕೆ, ವೀಳ್ಯದೆಲೆ, ಕರ್ಪೂರದ ಪುಡಿ ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಈ ತಾಂಬೂಲವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಬೇಕು.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
May this tambula, made of the great divine areca nut together with betel leaves and camphor powder, be accepted.
ಈ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಪೂಜೆಯ ಕೊನೆಯ ಹಂತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೈವೇದ್ಯದ ನಂತರ ತಾಂಬೂಲ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವ ಕ್ರಮ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ, ಇದನ್ನು ಮುಖವಾಸ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
It is common practice to offer tambula after naivedya in the closing steps of worship; it is also called mukhavasa.
ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ವೀಳ್ಯದೆಲೆ ಅಡಿಕೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಲೌಕಿಕ ಸತ್ಕಾರ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯನ್ನೇ ದೇವರಿಗೂ ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುವ ಭಾವ ಈ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಹಿಂದಿದೆ.
Behind this mantra is the idea of extending the same ordinary custom of offering betel leaf and areca nut to guests, to the deity as well.

ದೇವರನ್ನೂ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದ ಅತಿಥಿಯಂತೆ ಸತ್ಕರಿಸುವ ಈ ಭಾವ, ಅತಿಥಿ ಸತ್ಕಾರವನ್ನೇ ಒಂದು ಪೂಜೆಯಂತೆ ಕಾಣುವ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
Treating even the deity as a guest to be welcomed also teaches the outlook of seeing the hospitality shown to any guest as its own form of worship.
