ದೀಪದ ನಂತರ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ನೈವೇದ್ಯ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವಾಗ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಂತ್ರ ಇದು, ಸಕ್ಕರೆಯ ಸಿಹಿ, ಮೊಸರು, ಹಾಲು, ತುಪ್ಪ ಸೇರಿದ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ತಿನ್ನಬಹುದಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಸವಿಯಬಹುದಾದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಗೆಯ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನೂ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಭಾವ ಈ ಮಂತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

ಶರ್ಕರಾ ಖಂಡ ಖಾದ್ಯಾನಿ ದಧಿ ಕ್ಷೀರಘೃತಾನಿ ಚ ।
ಆಹಾರಂ ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಭೋಜ್ಯಂ ಚ ನೈವೇದ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯತಾಮ್ ॥

शर्करा खण्ड खाद्यानि दधि क्षीरघृतानि च ।

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಶರ್ಕರಾ ಖಂಡ ಖಾದ್ಯಾನಿ (शर्करा खण्ड खाद्यानि, śarkarā khaṇḍa khādyāni) = ಸಕ್ಕರೆಯ, ಬೆಲ್ಲದ ತಿನಿಸುಗಳನ್ನು (sweets made of sugar and jaggery)
- ದಧಿ ಕ್ಷೀರಘೃತಾನಿ ಚ (दधि क्षीरघृतानि च, dadhi kṣīraghṛtāni ca) = ಮೊಸರು, ಹಾಲು, ತುಪ್ಪಗಳನ್ನೂ (and curd, milk and ghee)
- ಆಹಾರಂ ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಭೋಜ್ಯಂ ಚ (आहारं भक्ष्यभोज्यं च, āhāraṃ bhakṣyabhojyaṃ ca) = ಅಗಿದು ತಿನ್ನಬಹುದಾದ, ನುಂಗಿ ಸೇವಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನೂ (and food that can be chewed or simply swallowed)
- ನೈವೇದ್ಯಂ ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯತಾಮ್ (नैवेद्यं प्रतिगृह्यताम्, naivedyaṃ pratigṛhyatām) = ಈ ನೈವೇದ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಬೇಕು (may this offering of food be accepted)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಸಕ್ಕರೆ ಬೆಲ್ಲದ ತಿನಿಸುಗಳು, ಮೊಸರು, ಹಾಲು, ತುಪ್ಪ, ಅಗಿದು ತಿನ್ನಬಹುದಾದ ಮತ್ತು ನುಂಗಿ ಸೇವಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ಆಹಾರ ಇವೆಲ್ಲ ಸೇರಿದ ಈ ನೈವೇದ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಬೇಕು.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
May this offering of food be accepted, sweets of sugar and jaggery, curd, milk and ghee, food that can be chewed and food that is simply taken in.

ಷೋಡಶೋಪಚಾರ ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೀಪದ ನಂತರ ನೈವೇದ್ಯ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ಉಪಚಾರ, ರುಚಿಯ ಇಂದ್ರಿಯವನ್ನು ದೇವರೆಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸುವ ಹಂತ.
In the sixteen step worship, naivedya is the tenth offering after the lamp, the stage that turns the sense of taste towards the deity.
ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯ, ಭೋಜ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ಪದಗಳು ಆಹಾರದ ಎರಡು ವಿಧಗಳನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತವೆ, ಅಗಿಯುವ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಯಲ್ಲೇ ಕರಗುವ ಆಹಾರ ಎಂದು ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕವಾಗಿ ವಿವರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
The two words bhakshya and bhojya are traditionally explained as pointing to two kinds of food, that which is chewed and that which melts in the mouth.

ಅಡುಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುವ ಈ ಮಂತ್ರ, ಅಡುಗೆಮನೆಯ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೂ ಒಂದು ಗೌರವದ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.
This mantra, which sees the ordinary work of cooking as an offering, gives kitchen work too a place of dignity.
