ತಿರುಮಲೆಯ ವೆಂಕಟೇಶ್ವರನ ಭಕ್ತರು ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೇಳುವ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಇದು. ವೆಂಕಟಾದ್ರಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾದ ಸ್ಥಳವಿಲ್ಲ, ವೆಂಕಟೇಶನಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾದ ದೇವರಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಇದು ಘೋಷಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
ತಿರುಪತಿ ಯಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಹತ್ತುವಾಗ, ಮನೆಯ ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶನಿವಾರದ ಭಜನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಕೇಳಿಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ವೆಂಕಟಾದ್ರಿಸಮಂ ಸ್ಥಾನಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡೇ ನಾಸ್ತಿ ಕಿಂಚನ ।
ವೆಂಕಟೇಶಸಮೋ ದೇವೋ ನ ಭೂತೋ ನ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
वेङ्कटाद्रिसमं स्थानं ब्रह्माण्डे नास्ति किञ्चन ।
वेङ्कटेशसमो देवो न भूतो न भविष्यति ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
veṅkaṭādrisamaṃ sthānaṃ brahmāṇḍe nāsti kiñcana |
veṅkaṭeśasamo devo na bhūto na bhaviṣyati ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ವೆಂಕಟಾದ್ರಿಸಮಮ್ (वेङ्कटाद्रिसमम्, veṅkaṭādrisamam) = ವೆಂಕಟಾದ್ರಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾದ (equal to the Venkata hill)
- ಸ್ಥಾನಮ್ (स्थानम्, sthānam) = ಸ್ಥಳ (a place)
- ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡೇ (ब्रह्माण्डे, brahmāṇḍe) = ಈ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ (in the universe)
- ನ ಅಸ್ತಿ ಕಿಂಚನ (न अस्ति किञ्चन, na asti kiñcana) = ಯಾವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ (there is none at all)
- ವೆಂಕಟೇಶಸಮಃ ದೇವಃ (वेङ्कटेशसमः देवः, veṅkaṭeśasamaḥ devaḥ) = ವೆಂಕಟೇಶನಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾದ ದೇವರು (a god equal to Venkatesha)
- ನ ಭೂತಃ (न भूतः, na bhūtaḥ) = ಹಿಂದೆ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ (there never was)
- ನ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ (न भविष्यति, na bhaviṣyati) = ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ (nor will there be)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ವೆಂಕಟಾದ್ರಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾದ ಸ್ಥಳ ಈ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ವೆಂಕಟೇಶನಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾದ ದೇವರು ಹಿಂದೆ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
There is no place in the whole universe equal to the Venkata hill. There never was a god equal to Venkatesha, nor will there ever be.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ವೆಂಕಟಾಚಲ ಮಾಹಾತ್ಮ್ಯದ ಅಥವಾ ಪುರಾಣಗಳ ಭಾಗವೆಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದುಂಟು, ಆದರೆ ನಿಖರವಾದ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟ. ಭಕ್ತರ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಲೆಮಾರುಗಳಿಂದ ಇದು ಉಳಿದುಬಂದಿದೆ.
The verse is often said to come from the Venkatachala Mahatmya or the Puranas, but it is hard to point to an exact chapter. It has lived on in the mouths of devotees for generations.
ತನ್ನ ಇಷ್ಟದೇವರನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮಿಗಿಲೆಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದು ಭಕ್ತಿಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಸಹಜ ರೀತಿ, ಇತರ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕಡೆಗಣಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ. ವೆಂಕಟೇಶ ಸುಪ್ರಭಾತ, ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ, ಪ್ರಪತ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಂಗಳಾಶಾಸನಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ತಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ಪುಟಗಳಿವೆ.

Months of planning, hours in the queue, and still people go back to that distant hill again and again. The human capacity to form so strong a bond with a place is itself a wonder, and this verse is the voice of that bond.
