Thakura Appearance Day is the birthday of Bhaktivinoda Thakura, who began the revival of the Gaudiya tradition, kept on the thirteenth day of bright Bhadrapada.<\/p>\n<h2>How it is kept<\/h2>\n<p>Gaudiya Vaishnavas fast until noon, sing his songs, which are sung in their temples every day, and read his life. The day is kept at Mayapur, at his house Svananda Sukhada Kunja at Godrumadvipa, and in Gaudiya Math and ISKCON temples.<\/p>\n<h2>The story<\/h2>\n<p>Kedarnath Datta, Bhaktivinoda Thakura, was born in 1838 at Ula in Nadia. A deputy magistrate under the British, he wrote over a hundred books and songs on devotion, located Sri Chaitanya&#8217;s birthplace at Mayapur and began the revival of the Gaudiya tradition that his son, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, carried on.<\/p>\n<h2>Which day Anudina gives<\/h2>\n<p>Anudina gives the day on which Bhadrapada shukla trayodashi, the thirteenth tithi of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada, is running at sunrise. Anudina shows no day for years before 1838.<\/p>\n<p>Anudina shows it to readers who tick the Gaudiya (ISKCON) lineage in the Tradition sheet, wherever they are.
