The first half is Sanjaya&#8217;s, the second is Arjuna&#8217;s. Sthapaya, halt, is an imperative, the natural word of a warrior to his charioteer. The Udyoga Parva relates that before the war Duryodhana chose Krishna&#8217;s Narayani army, while Arjuna chose Krishna himself, who would bear no weapon. Chyuta means slipped, fallen from one&#8217;s place. Achyuta is the one who never slips from his own state. Notice, too: in a little while Arjuna himself is about to slip from his.
