They are not consolation but a question. Shankaracharya explains kashmala as moha, the stain that clouds the mind. Anaryajushtam speaks of conduct, asvargyam of the world to come, akirtikaram of one&#8217;s name in this world. In the first chapter Arjuna had spoken of sin, the ruin of the family and hell. Arjuna&#8217;s grief is real. But commentators read Krishna&#8217;s position as this: the grief is true, and the conclusion drawn from it is not.
