class=\"bg-en\" lang=\"en\">This answer has two halves, and the second is the important one. If casting off desires were enough, a man on a fast would be a sthitaprajna. Shankaracharya raises the objection directly: once everything is given up, if there is no ground for contentment, the person&#8217;s behaviour becomes like that of a madman. Prayah sarvan, he says, nearly all, since even in one like Shuka a trace is seen.
