Action belongs to the body and senses; the self is actionless. To one sitting in a moving boat, the trees on the bank seem to move backwards. In the same way the world lays the body’s action on the self. Seeing through this is ‘inaction in action’. On the other side, even in the thought ‘I am sitting at ease, doing nothing’, the ‘I’ as agent is hidden.
