For Shankara and Sridhara Swami, &#8216;Brahman&#8217; here means the Veda: these sacrifices are known through the Veda, and the Veda directly enjoins them. For Madhva, &#8216;Brahman&#8217; is the Supreme Self, in line with 9.24, &#8216;I am the enjoyer and the lord of all sacrifices&#8217;. All these sacrifices are born of the working of body, speech and mind, not of the Self, for the Self is actionless.
