It is not, however, part of the thirteen core chapters of the Devi Mahatmya. It is a limb hymn, the second of the three recited before the main text in the order Kavacha, Argala, Kilaka. The first two verses hail the Devi by her names, the verses after them close with the refrain, and the last verse is the phalashruti. Verse 25 is a prayer for a good wife, spoken in the voice of a male reciter.
