Every verse closes with the refrain &#8220;Jaya jaya he Madhusudana-kamini&#8221;. Food, courage, children, victory and learning are all forms of Lakshmi. Its lilt is the same as that of the Mahishasuramardini Stotra that begins Ayi giri nandini. We translate the refrain in full in the first verse and briefly after that. In verses 4 and 8 the refrain ends with rupena, &#8220;in this form&#8221;, in place of sada, &#8220;always&#8221;.
