The first four verses picture the Goddess of speech, radiant white, holding the vina and the book, and ask that she dwell in the singer&#8217;s speech. In them Sarasvati is called the Veda, the Word as Brahman and the root power, and also Uma, Mahakali and Mahalakshmi. The last two verses are the phalashruti.
