The Ganesha Dvadashanama Stotra is a short hymn that gathers twelve names of Ganapati in one place. These names, beginning Sumukha, Ekadanta, Kapila, are heard in many homes at the start of worship. Children are also often taught to say it before they sit down to study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hymn has seven verses. The first three are meditation and salutation, the middle two give the twelve names, and the last two are the phalashruti. Its wish is that no obstacle should come in the way of any beginning: study, marriage, a journey or a time of trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
