meditation outlined in the last two verses of the fifth. Sridhara Swami states its gist at the outset: even after the mind is purified, there is no liberation from renunciation alone without meditation. But before meditation Krishna praises the yoga of action once more. Shankara raises an objection: in scripture, is the renunciate not precisely the one who has given up fire and ritual? His answer: calling the one who does obligatory work without desire for its fruit a &#8216;renunciate&#8217; here is by way of praise.
