lang=\"en\">The pair &#8216;jnana&#8217; and &#8216;vijnana&#8217; recurs in the Gita. For Shankara jnana is understanding what the scriptures teach, vijnana is making what one has understood one&#8217;s own experience. Sridhara Swami says the same: knowledge from instruction, and wisdom of direct experience. Madhva opens &#8216;kuta&#8217; as space, and reads it as one who stands changeless like space.
