Since all selves are alike in being knowledge, the joy of a son&#8217;s birth and the sorrow of a death are equally unconnected with the self, whether one&#8217;s own or another&#8217;s. One who sees the birth and death of his own son as he would another&#8217;s has reached the summit of yoga.
