It gives the sense that wherever the body may be, what counts is where the inner mind is. Antahkarana means the inner instrument, and in the usual reckoning it covers all four of mind, intellect, the sense of I, and memory. Pada means a foot, and pada also means a station or a state. So standing at your foot is also resting in your state. The verse thus gives yoga a definition of its own. In Patanjali&#8217;s Yoga Sutra, yoga is the stilling of the movements of the mind.
