The poet says that light lies spread over its floor, and that light is the lustre of the row of Shiva&#8217;s ten toenails. Comparing nails to little moons is a convention of Sanskrit poetry, and the comparison carries the next phrase with it, since tradition holds the moon to be the seat of nectar. So along with that moonlight a flow of nectar also rises and washes the floor. On one side it is the bird of the lake, on the other it is the name given in Vedanta to the individual soul and to the renouncer, and the word paramahamsa comes from it. In the same way \u2018manasa\u2019 is both lake Manasa in the Himalaya and the mind. Behind the address lies the belief that royal swans make their way to lake Manasa.
