It is the abode of the water of eternal bliss, the resort of the lotuses that are the hearts of gods and sages, clear, served by good birds, a remover of impurity, a bringer out of good disposition. A swan cannot live in one all the year, so it must keep moving from pool to pool. In earlier verses of the Shivananda Lahari the mind came as a monkey, as a creature wandering in a forest. Here it is called the crest ornament among swans. This is a teacher&#8217;s way of setting a task before a clever pupil by recalling his dignity rather than scolding him.
