Standing on that name, the poet runs the whole verse in two senses at once. On one side it describes a jasmine in the evening, on the other the worship of the linga in the shrine. The jasmine opens at dusk, and dusk is also one of the hours of worship. Jasmine is worn at the top of the ear, and shruti means both the ear and the Veda, so the same phrase says that this linga is established in the Upanishads, the head of the Veda.
