The &#8216;devilish nature&#8217; is the view that the body is the self, and from it comes the cruel conduct of &#8216;cut, break, drink, eat, take what is another&#8217;s&#8217;. For Ramanuja this very nature hides the compassion present in the Lord&#8217;s human form.
