For Shankara &#8216;sat&#8217; is what exists in some relation, and &#8216;asat&#8217; its opposite. He warns that this does not mean the Lord is wholly non-existent. For Ramanuja &#8216;sat&#8217; is what is present now, and &#8216;asat&#8217; what was and what is yet to come. All sentient and insentient things in every state are his body.
