&#8216;kshema&#8217; is keeping what one has gained. Shankara gives this meaning and raises a question: does not the Lord carry the welfare of other devotees too? He does, but there is a difference. Others also strive for their own welfare, while those with no other do not strive for it, and he himself carries them.
