The acharyas give this word three kinds of depth. For Shankara it is Time that brings about the waning of the worlds, grown mighty for that purpose. Ramanuja goes to the root of the word: &#8216;kalayati&#8217;, he counts, and so he is &#8216;kala&#8217;.
