He is &#8216;nidhana&#8217; because at the great dissolution the whole world rests in him. The &#8216;supreme abode&#8217; is the supreme state of Vishnu. All knowers in the world and everything to be known are he, in the form of their Self, and so he is the supreme place to be reached.
