Shankara asks what kind of union this is. Not like a rope tied round a pot, nor like parts fastened together, for the knower is without parts, like space. It is the non-discrimination that superimposes each on the other, he says, like silver seen in mother-of-pearl. So here Krishna expands sankhya, the discernment of the self.
