Therefore it is imperishable. Though it appears to be in the body it does not act, and since it does not act it is not tainted by the fruit of action. Having no beginning it has no decay, and having no gunas such as sattva it is not tainted by the nature of the body. Sridhara Swami calls this the answer to a doubt: while in samsara, is not the inequality of pleasure and pain unavoidable through connection with body and action?
