clearly diverge. For Shankara &#8216;mama sadharmya&#8217; means attaining my very nature, not having similar attributes, since the teaching of the Gita does not accept a difference between the knower of the field and the Lord. This statement of the fruit, he says, is for the praise of knowledge. In the twelfth chapter (12.4) he had pointed to this very verse in support. Madhva&#8217;s comment on this verse is not in our source text.
