the word on release begins here, says Sridhara Swami. According to Shankara the knower sees that in every state the doers of all actions are the gunas alone, transformed into body, senses and objects, and knows the Self, the witness of the gunas&#8217; workings, as beyond them. Otherwise it would contradict the Mundaka shruti that calls the Lord &#8216;kartaram isham&#8217;, the Lord who is the doer.
