lang=\"en\">The sixteenth chapter lays open two directions of human nature: the divine wealth and the demonic wealth. The first three verses are a list of twenty-six names of divine qualities. Sridhara Swami states the purpose of the chapter in a verse: the discernment of the two, to establish that those who give up the demonic wealth and take refuge in the divine are released. Ramanuja gives &#8216;fear&#8217; an exact sense: fear is the sorrow born of seeing the cause of losing what is dear and meeting what is unwelcome, and fearlessness is its ending. For him &#8216;giving&#8217; is giving honestly earned wealth to the deserving.
