senses. According to Shankara it means poorly cooked, since what has lost its strength is already covered by &#8216;gatarasa&#8217;. According to Sridhara Swami it is rice and the like that has gone cold after a yama, about three hours, has passed since cooking. Such food, he says, grows tamas further.
