According to Shankara &#8216;vidhihina&#8217; is contrary to what scripture says, &#8216;asrishtanna&#8217; is without food given to the Brahmins, &#8216;mantrahina&#8217; has faults in the mantra, whether of accent or of letters, and &#8216;adakshina&#8217; is without the prescribed fee. According to him, before the threefold austerity is told, the form of austerity of body, speech and mind comes next.
