Performing the daily and occasional duties while giving up their fruit so that it does not attach to oneself is relinquishment. His answer: the Lord holds that even daily duties have fruit, as 18.12 says. Ramanuja introduces this verse at the end of his comment on 18.1: here the Lord sets out the differing views of disputants in order to establish that the nature of the two words is one.
