Shankara gives &#8216;doshavat&#8217; two senses: all action is faulty since it causes bondage, or action should be given up just as faults like attachment are. The first view is held by those of the Sankhya and similar outlooks. According to Sridhara Swami the &#8216;fault&#8217; of action is the fault of harm and the like, which causes bondage. Madhva&#8217;s reading is distinctive: since those of both views are called &#8216;thinkers&#8217;, the first view too should be accepted.
