Shankara states the place of &#8216;jnanayajna&#8217;: among the ritual sacrifice, japa, whispered recitation and the mental kind, the sacrifice of knowledge is the highest because it is mental. Sridhara Swami takes &#8216;adhyeshyate&#8217; as reciting it in the manner of japa, and that is the sacrifice of knowledge, higher than all sacrifices.
