ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಘಂಟೆ ಬಾರಿಸುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಹೇಳುವ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಇದು. ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಲು ಮತ್ತು ಅಡ್ಡಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ದೂರ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲು ಘಂಟೆಯ ನಾದ ಎಂದು ಇದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ದೇವರ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಿನವೂ ಕೇಳುವ ಘಂಟೆಯ ಸದ್ದಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವ ಸಣ್ಣ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಇದು.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಆಗಮಾರ್ಥಂ ತು ದೇವಾನಾಂ ಗಮನಾರ್ಥಂ ತು ರಕ್ಷಸಾಮ್ ।
ಕುರ್ವೇ ಘಂಟಾರವಂ ತತ್ರ ದೇವತಾಹ್ವಾನಲಾಂಛನಮ್ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
आगमार्थं तु देवानां गमनार्थं तु रक्षसाम् ।
कुर्वे घण्टारवं तत्र देवताह्वानलाञ्छनम् ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
āgamārthaṃ tu devānāṃ gamanārthaṃ tu rakṣasām |
kurve ghaṇṭāravaṃ tatra devatāhvānalāñchanam ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಆಗಮಾರ್ಥಂ ತು ದೇವಾನಾಮ್ (आगमार्थं तु देवानाम्, āgamārthaṃ tu devānām) = ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಬರಲೆಂದು (for the coming of the gods)
- ಗಮನಾರ್ಥಂ ತು ರಕ್ಷಸಾಮ್ (गमनार्थं तु रक्षसाम्, gamanārthaṃ tu rakṣasām) = ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಲೆಂದು (for the going of the demons)
- ಕುರ್ವೇ (कुर्वे, kurve) = ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ (I make)
- ಘಂಟಾರವಮ್ (घण्टारवम्, ghaṇṭāravam) = ಘಂಟೆಯ ನಾದವನ್ನು (the sound of the bell)
- ತತ್ರ (तत्र, tatra) = ಇಲ್ಲಿ, ಈ ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ (here, in this worship)
- ದೇವತಾಹ್ವಾನಲಾಂಛನಮ್ (देवताह्वानलाञ्छनम्, devatāhvānalāñchanam) = ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸುವ ಗುರುತಾದ (which is the sign of inviting the gods)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ದೇವತೆಗಳು ಬರಲೆಂದು, ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಲೆಂದು, ದೇವತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸುವ ಗುರುತಾದ ಘಂಟೆಯ ನಾದವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
That the gods may come and the demons depart, I sound the bell here, the sign that invites the gods.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಕೊನೆಯ ಪದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವತಾಹ್ವಾನಲಕ್ಷಣಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಆವೃತ್ತಿಯೂ ಇದೆ, ಎರಡರ ಅರ್ಥವೂ ಗುರುತು ಅಥವಾ ಲಕ್ಷಣ. ಘಂಟೆಯನ್ನು ಬಾರಿಸುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಅದನ್ನೂ ಗಂಧ ಅಕ್ಷತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಪೂಜಿಸುವ ಕ್ರಮ ಪೂಜಾ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
The last word is also found as devatahvanalakshanam, and both mean a sign or mark. Worship manuals direct that the bell itself be honoured with sandal paste and rice before it is rung.
ಇದರ ಮೂಲ ಗ್ರಂಥವನ್ನು ಖಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಲಾಗದು. ಇದು ಪೂಜಾ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ತಲೆಮಾರಿನಿಂದ ತಲೆಮಾರಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ಶ್ಲೋಕ.
Its original source cannot be fixed with certainty. It has come down the generations through manuals of worship.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಘಂಟೆಯ ಸದ್ದು ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಗದ್ದಲದಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ ಬೇರ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಆ ಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನೇ ಗಮನದ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಪೂಜೆಯ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಘಂಟೆ ಬಾರಿಸುವುದು ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗಿನ ಗಮನವನ್ನು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಇರಬಹುದು.
The moment the sound of the bell reaches the ear, the mind steps away from the surrounding noise for an instant. That instant can be used as the start of attention. Ringing the bell at the start of worship may also be a way of waking our own attention.
