ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಹನುಮಂತನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳುವ ಮೊದಲ ಗುಣ ಅವನ ವೇಗ: ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಷ್ಟು ವೇಗ, ಗಾಳಿಯಷ್ಟು ವೇಗ. ಆದರೆ ಅದರ ಬೆನ್ನಿಗೇ ಜಿತೇಂದ್ರಿಯ (ಇಂದ್ರಿಯಗಳನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದವನು) ಮತ್ತು ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತರಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಎಂಬ ಗುಣಗಳು ಬರುತ್ತವೆ.
ವೇಗದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸಂಯಮ, ಶಕ್ತಿಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ವಿವೇಕ ಇದ್ದುದರಿಂದಲೇ ಹನುಮಂತ ರಾಮನ ನಂಬಿಕಸ್ಥ ದೂತನಾದನು.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಮನೋಜವಂ ಮಾರುತತುಲ್ಯವೇಗಂ
ಜಿತೇಂದ್ರಿಯಂ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತಾಂ ವರಿಷ್ಠಮ್ ।
ವಾತಾತ್ಮಜಂ ವಾನರಯೂಥಮುಖ್ಯಂ
ಶ್ರೀರಾಮದೂತಂ ಶರಣಂ ಪ್ರಪದ್ಯೇ ॥

मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगं
जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठम् ।
वातात्मजं वानरयूथमुख्यं
श्रीरामदूतं शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ಮನೋಜವಮ್ (मनोजवम्, manojavam) = ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಷ್ಟು ವೇಗವುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು (swift as the mind)
- ಮಾರುತತುಲ್ಯವೇಗಮ್ (मारुततुल्यवेगम्, mārutatulyavegam) = ಗಾಳಿಗೆ ಸಮನಾದ ವೇಗದವನನ್ನು (fast as the wind)
- ಜಿತೇಂದ್ರಿಯಮ್ (जितेन्द्रियम्, jitendriyam) = ಇಂದ್ರಿಯಗಳನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದವನನ್ನು (master of the senses)
- ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತಾಮ್ (बुद्धिमताम्, buddhimatām) = ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತರಲ್ಲಿ (among the wise)
- ವರಿಷ್ಠಮ್ (वरिष्ठम्, variṣṭham) = ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನನ್ನು (the foremost)
- ವಾತಾತ್ಮಜಮ್ (वातात्मजम्, vātātmajam) = ವಾಯುವಿನ ಮಗನನ್ನು (son of the wind god)
- ವಾನರಯೂಥಮುಖ್ಯಮ್ (वानरयूथमुख्यम्, vānarayūthamukhyam) = ವಾನರರ ಗುಂಪಿನ ಮುಖ್ಯನನ್ನು (chief among the bands of vanaras)
- ಶ್ರೀರಾಮದೂತಮ್ (श्रीरामदूतम्, śrīrāmadūtam) = ಶ್ರೀರಾಮನ ದೂತನನ್ನು (the messenger of Sri Rama)
- ಶರಣಮ್ (शरणम्, śaraṇam) = ಆಶ್ರಯವಾಗಿ (as refuge)
- ಪ್ರಪದ್ಯೇ (प्रपद्ये, prapadye) = ಹೊಂದುತ್ತೇನೆ (I take)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಷ್ಟು ವೇಗದ, ಗಾಳಿಯಷ್ಟು ಜವದ, ಇಂದ್ರಿಯಗಳನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದ, ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತರಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನಾದ, ವಾಯುಪುತ್ರನಾದ, ವಾನರ ಸೇನೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯನಾದ ಶ್ರೀರಾಮದೂತನಲ್ಲಿ ಶರಣು ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
I take refuge in the messenger of Sri Rama, swift as the mind and fast as the wind, master of the senses, foremost among the wise, son of the wind god, chief of the vanara bands.
ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ರಾಮರಕ್ಷಾ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಶ್ರೀರಾಮದೂತಂ ಶರಣಂ ಪ್ರಪದ್ಯೇ ಎಂದು ಕೊನೆಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುವಾಗ ಹಲವರು ಶ್ರೀರಾಮದೂತಂ ಶಿರಸಾ ನಮಾಮಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಎರಡೂ ಪಾಠಗಳು ಛಂದಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಹೊಂದುತ್ತವೆ.
In the Rama Raksha Stotram it ends with shriramadutam sharanam prapadye. When it is said on its own, many end it with shriramadutam shirasa namami, I bow my head. Both readings fit the metre.
ಹನುಮಂತನ ವೇಗ ಸುಂದರಕಾಂಡದ ಸಮುದ್ರಲಂಘನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಸೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿ ಕಂಡಾಗ ಅವಳು ಹೆದರದಂತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವನು ಮೊದಲು ಮರದ ಮೇಲಿಂದಲೇ ರಾಮನ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಮೆಲ್ಲಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
Hanuman’s speed shows in the leap across the ocean in the Sundara Kanda. His wisdom shows in how he chooses to speak to Sita at their first meeting so that she is not frightened. He first recites Rama’s story softly from the tree.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯ ಇಂದು ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಬೇಕು. ಆದರೆ ಇಂದ್ರಿಯಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಿಡಿತ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವೇಕ ಇಲ್ಲದ ವೇಗ ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ. ಹನುಮಂತನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗಿವೆ.
The skill of working fast is wanted everywhere today. But speed without self-control and judgement is dangerous. In Hanuman all three go together.
ದೂತ ಎಂದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಬಯಸದೆ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರ ಉದ್ದೇಶಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ದುಡಿಯುವವನು. ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಅದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಆದರ್ಶ.
A messenger works for someone else’s purpose without seeking fame for himself. That is a good ideal for anyone who works in a team.
