Chitra Gallery: privacy

Chitra Gallery is made and run by Dixith Labs, India. It is a gallery that works on your phone alone. This page says what it reads, what it keeps and what leaves the phone, which is nothing sent by the app.

Last updated 8 November 2026.

What it reads

The photos and videos on your phone, and only after you allow access. You may allow all of them, or only some, and the app works with whatever you allow. It does not read your contacts, location, messages or anything else.

What it keeps, on your phone

What leaves the phone

Nothing is sent by the app. It has no internet permission, no account, no advertising and no usage statistics. When you share a picture, the phone's own share sheet does it, and only to the app you pick. The Rate this app and Write to us entries in More open pages on dixith.com in your browser, and only when you tap them; the app itself sends nothing. Write to us adds the app's version, your Android version and the phone model to the message box, where you can read or delete them before you send.

Saving your choices to a file

In Settings you can save your choices to a text file and restore them later, for example on a new phone. The phone's own file chooser asks where to put the file, and the file goes only there. It holds no pictures. Anyone who has the file can read the names of your collections and the folder and file names of the pictures you marked, so keep it where you would keep other private files.

The phone's own backup

If the Google backup on your phone is on, Android copies the app's choices (not the pictures, and not the previews) to your Google account, as it does for other apps, and may bring them back on a new phone. This is done by the phone, not by the app, and you can turn it off in the phone's settings.

Deleting

Deleting a picture moves it to the phone's own trash. The app asks first unless you turn that off in Settings, and the phone asks as well. To remove everything the app keeps, clear its storage in the phone's settings or uninstall it.

Questions

Write to us through the contact page, or from inside the app (More, then Write to us), which opens the same page in your browser.
