This is a hymn in praise of a yati named Sadashivendra. Pancharatna means five jewels, yet the source has six verses. The first five speak of the effect of seeing him, his nature and one incident. The sixth says that those who recite it receive his compassion.
According to the closing note of the source, Sri Sachchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswami composed it. About Sadashivendra we say only what the text shows: he is a yati, born of the lotus hand of Paramashivendra.

By the mere sight of whom devotion arose even in one whose ears are unpierced, having now had that very sight I am truly fulfilled. Unpierced ears can also mean one who has not heard instruction.
I bow to him who ever fixes the Self in the Self alone and walks the road in the form of a dullard, like a fire covered with ash.
I bow to that ascetic by the mere sight of whom unshaken dispassion towards all objects quickly arises in the mind.
May this Sadashivendra of mine be present before me, an ocean of grace with his mind set on Shiva, foe of the cities, and born of the lotus hand of Paramashivendra.
Hearing the words of people that your disciple wanders here like a madman, his guru once said with distress: alas, my madness is not of that kind. The text does not say to whom the words were spoken.
The verse says that whoever in the world recites this group of verses, composed in devotion, also quickly gains the compassion of Sadashivendra.
About this hymn
According to the closing note of the source on the website of the Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham, this hymn was composed by Sri Sachchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswami, Jagadguru of Sringeri, in praise of Sadashivendra. We follow that and give no date.
Though the name says pancharatna, the source has six verses. Verse 6 calls itself a panchaka of verses, a group of five. Beyond what the text shows, that Sadashivendra is a yati and the disciple of Paramashivendra, we say nothing.
The text was converted mechanically from a Roman letter original into Kannada, so small spelling slips in some words are possible. In verse 5 we read the speaker as the guru, and the word aviddhakarna in verse 1 can carry two senses.

For life today
Think of someone reading quietly by the window of a crowded bus while everyone jostles. They have not run from the world, but inside them is a steadiness of their own.
The hymn likens such a person to a fire covered with ash: ordinary outside, glowing within. On a noisy day we too may need the memory of such an inner corner.
