About this subhashita
Lubdhaka means one full of greed, the hunter. Dhivara is the fisherman. The verse is not condemning those trades. It draws the picture of a greedy, lurking nature.
Pishuna means the one who carries tales. The first two hunt for the belly. The slanderer’s only gain is another person’s loss, which is why he stands last in the line.

For life today
One should not assume that a plain, harmless life has no enemies. When criticism comes with no cause, before we sit hunting for our own fault we can also look at the lurking behind it.
And when we ourselves are about to carry a tale about someone, we can pause once and ask whether we are joining this line of three.
