ಸ್ನಾನದ ನಂತರ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಜೊತೆ ವಸ್ತ್ರ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವಾಗ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಂತ್ರ ಇದು, ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಸುಖ ತರುವ ವಸ್ತ್ರ ಎಂದು ಇದನ್ನು ವರ್ಣಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಎರಡು ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು, ದೇವದೇವೇಶ ಎಂದು ಸಂಬೋಧಿಸಿ, ಜಗದೀಶ್ವರನಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಂತ್ರ ಇದು.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ವಸ್ತ್ರಯುಗ್ಮಂ ಮಯಾ ದತ್ತಂ ಸರ್ವಪ್ರಾಣಿಸುಖಾವಹಂ ।
ಮಂಗಳಂ ದೇವದೇವೇಶ ಗೃಹಾಣ ಜಗದೀಶ್ವರ ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)
वस्त्रयुग्मं मया दत्तं सर्वप्राणिसुखावहं ।
मङ्गळं देवदेवेश गृहाण जगदीश्वर ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
vastrayugmaṃ mayā dattaṃ sarvaprāṇisukhāvahaṃ |
maṅgaḷaṃ devadeveśa gṛhāṇa jagadīśvara ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ವಸ್ತ್ರಯುಗ್ಮಮ್ (वस्त्रयुग्मम्, vastrayugmam) = ಜೊತೆ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು (a pair of garments)
- ಮಯಾ ದತ್ತಮ್ (मया दत्तम्, mayā dattam) = ನಾನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವ (given by me)
- ಸರ್ವಪ್ರಾಣಿಸುಖಾವಹಮ್ (सर्वप्राणिसुखावहम्, sarvaprāṇisukhāvaham) = ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಸುಖ ತರುವಂಥದ್ದನ್ನು (that which brings happiness to all beings)
- ಮಂಗಳಮ್ (मङ्गळम्, maṅgaḷam) = ಮಂಗಳಕರವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು (the auspicious)
- ದೇವದೇವೇಶ (देवदेवेश, devadeveśa) = ಓ ದೇವತೆಗಳ ಒಡೆಯನೇ (O lord of the gods)
- ಗೃಹಾಣ ಜಗದೀಶ್ವರ (गृहाण जगदीश्वर, gṛhāṇa jagadīśvara) = ಓ ಜಗದೀಶ್ವರನೇ, ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸು (O lord of the universe, accept it)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ಎಲ್ಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಸುಖ ತರುವ, ಮಂಗಳಕರವಾದ ಈ ಜೊತೆ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಓ ದೇವತೆಗಳ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ಜಗದೀಶ್ವರನೇ, ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸು.
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)
O lord of the gods, O lord of the universe, accept this pair of garments given by me, auspicious and bringing happiness to all beings.

ಷೋಡಶೋಪಚಾರ ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನಾನದ ನಂತರ ವಸ್ತ್ರ ಐದನೆಯ ಉಪಚಾರ, ವಿಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವಸ್ತ್ರದ ತುಂಡು ಅಥವಾ ಜನಿವಾರ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವ ಕ್ರಮ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ.
In the sixteen step worship, cloth is the fifth offering after the bath, and it is common to offer a small piece of cloth or a sacred thread to the image.
ದೇವದೇವೇಶ, ಜಗದೀಶ್ವರ ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ಸಂಬೋಧನೆಗಳೂ ಯಾವುದೇ ದೇವತೆಗೆ ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುವಂತೆ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿವೆ.
Both the addresses, lord of the gods and lord of the universe, are general enough to apply to any deity being worshipped.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ಮೈ ಮುಚ್ಚುವ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನೂ ಒಂದು ಅರ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುವ ಈ ಮಂತ್ರ, ದಿನನಿತ್ಯದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಪೂಜ್ಯಭಾವ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
This mantra, which sees even ordinary cloth as an offering, shows that a sense of reverence can be found in everyday things too.
