ಪೂಜೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಶಂಖವನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸಿ ಪೂಜಿಸುವಾಗ ಶಂಖಕ್ಕೆ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ನಮಿಸಿ ಹೇಳುವ ಮಂತ್ರ ಇದು.
ಸಮುದ್ರದಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ, ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ, ಎಲ್ಲ ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಪೂಜಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಪಾಂಚಜನ್ಯ ಶಂಖಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (ಕನ್ನಡ)
ತ್ವಂ ಪುರಾ ಸಾಗರೋತ್ಪನ್ನಃ ವಿಷ್ಣುನಾ ವಿಧೃತಃ ಕರೇ ।
ದೇವೈಶ್ಚ ಪೂಜಿತಃ ಸರ್ವೈಃ ಪಾಂಚಜನ್ಯ ನಮೋಽಸ್ತು ತೇ ॥

त्वं पुरा सागरोत्पन्नः विष्णुना विधृतः करे ।
देवैश्च पूजितः सर्वैः पाञ्चजन्य नमोऽस्तु ते ॥
ಶ್ಲೋಕ (IAST)
tvaṃ purā sāgarotpannaḥ viṣṇunā vidhṛtaḥ kare |
devaiśca pūjitaḥ sarvaiḥ pāñcajanya namo’stu te ||
ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ
- ತ್ವಮ್ ಪುರಾ ಸಾಗರೋತ್ಪನ್ನಃ (त्वम् पुरा सागरोत्पन्नः, tvam purā sāgarotpannaḥ) = ನೀನು ಹಿಂದೆ ಸಮುದ್ರದಿಂದ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದೆ (you were born long ago from the ocean)
- ವಿಷ್ಣುನಾ ವಿಧೃತಃ ಕರೇ (विष्णुना विधृतः करे, viṣṇunā vidhṛtaḥ kare) = ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಧರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟೆ (you were held in the hand of Vishnu)
- ದೇವೈಃ ಚ ಪೂಜಿತಃ ಸರ್ವೈಃ (देवैः च पूजितः सर्वैः, devaiḥ ca pūjitaḥ sarvaiḥ) = ಎಲ್ಲ ದೇವತೆಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಪೂಜಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟೆ (you were worshipped by all the gods)
- ಪಾಂಚಜನ್ಯ ನಮಃ ಅಸ್ತು ತೇ (पाञ्चजन्य नमः अस्तु ते, pāñcajanya namaḥ astu te) = ಓ ಪಾಂಚಜನ್ಯನೇ, ನಿನಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ (O Panchajanya, salutations to you)
ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಈ ಮಂತ್ರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this verse
ಪಾಂಚಜನ್ಯ ಎಂಬುದು ವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಶಂಖದ ಹೆಸರು, ಈ ಮಂತ್ರ ಪೂಜೆಗೆ ಬಳಸುವ ಯಾವುದೇ ಶಂಖಕ್ಕೂ ಸಾಂಕೇತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅನ್ವಯಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
Panchajanya is the name of Vishnu’s own conch, and this mantra is applied symbolically to any conch used in worship.
ಶಂಖವನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸಿ, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ತೀರ್ಥ ತುಂಬಿಸಿ, ಆ ಶಂಖೋದಕದಿಂದಲೇ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅಭಿಷೇಕ ಮಾಡುವ ಕ್ರಮ ಪೂಜಾ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ.
It is common in worship practice to first worship the conch, fill it with holy water, and then bathe the deity with that very water.

ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಆಳದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಚಿಪ್ಪಿಗೂ ಇಷ್ಟು ಗೌರವ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಪದ್ಧತಿ, ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಎಲ್ಲ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಪವಿತ್ರತೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂಬ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
The custom of showing such reverence even to a small shell from the ocean depths teaches the outlook that sanctity can be found in every part of nature.
