ಪದ್ಯದ್ವಯಸ್ಯ ಸಂಧಾನಂ: ಎರಡು ಸಾಲು ಬರೆಯಲಾಗದವರ ಧೈರ್ಯ

ಟೀಕೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಸುಲಭ, ಮಾಡಿ ತೋರಿಸುವುದು ಕಷ್ಟ. ಇದು ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಾಲದ ಮಾತು.

ಆ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಒಂದೇ ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿ ಮುಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಸುಭಾಷಿತ ರತ್ನಗಳು ಸರಣಿಯ ಈ ಕಂತಿನ ಕೊನೆಯ ಶ್ಲೋಕವೂ ಇದೇ.

ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ಪದ್ಯದ್ವಯಸ್ಯ ಸಂಧಾನಂ ಕರ್ತುಮಪ್ರತಿಭಾಃ ಖಲಾಃ ।
ತಥಾಪಿ ಪರಕಾವ್ಯೇಷು ದುಷ್ಕರೇಷ್ವಪ್ಯಸಮ್ಭ್ರಮಾಃ ॥

ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (ದೇವನಾಗರಿ)

पद्यद्वयस्य संधानं कर्तुमप्रतिभाः खलाः ।
तथापि परकाव्येषु दुष्करेष्वप्यसम्भ्रमाः ॥

ಸುಭಾಷಿತ (IAST)

padyadvayasya saṃdhānaṃ kartumapratibhāḥ khalāḥ |
tathāpi parakāvyeṣu duṣkareṣvapyasambhramāḥ ||

ಪದಶಃ ಅರ್ಥ

ಪದ್ಯದ್ವಯಸ್ಯ ಸಂಧಾನಮ್ (पद्यद्वयस्य संधानम्, padyadvayasya saṃdhānam) = ಎರಡು ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುವುದನ್ನು (the joining together of even two verses)
ಕರ್ತುಮ್ (कर्तुम्, kartum) = ಮಾಡಲು (to do)
ಅಪ್ರತಿಭಾಃ (अप्रतिभाः, apratibhāḥ) = ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯಿಲ್ಲದವರು (without the wit)
ಖಲಾಃ (खलाः, khalāḥ) = ದುಷ್ಟರು (the crooked)
ತಥಾಪಿ (तथापि, tathāpi) = ಆದರೂ (and yet)
ಪರಕಾವ್ಯೇಷು (परकाव्येषु, parakāvyeṣu) = ಬೇರೆಯವರ ಕಾವ್ಯಗಳ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ (in the matter of others’ poems)
ದುಷ್ಕರೇಷು ಅಪಿ (दुष्करेषु अपि, duṣkareṣu api) = ಕಷ್ಟವಾದವುಗಳಲ್ಲೂ (even the difficult ones)
ಅಸಮ್ಭ್ರಮಾಃ (असम्भ्रमाः, asambhramāḥ) = ಯಾವ ಅಳುಕೂ ಇಲ್ಲದವರು (without the least hesitation)

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಕನ್ನಡ)

ದುಷ್ಟರಿಗೆ ಎರಡು ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುವ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಬೇರೆಯವರ ಕಾವ್ಯಗಳ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಕಷ್ಟವಾದವುಗಳಲ್ಲೂ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಅಳುಕೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಅರ್ಥ (ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್)

The crooked have not the wit to join even two verses together. And yet, in the matter of other people’s poems, and the difficult ones at that, they have not the least hesitation.

ಈ ಸುಭಾಷಿತದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this subhashita

ಸಂಧಾನ ಎಂದರೆ ಜೋಡಿಸುವುದು. ಎರಡು ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುವುದೂ ಬಾರದವರು ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಚುರುಕು ಇದೆ. ಒಂದೂ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಎರಡು ಎಂಬ ಎಣಿಕೆಯೇ ವ್ಯಂಗ್ಯ.

Sandhana means joining. The sting lies in saying they cannot join even two verses. The counting itself, not one but two, is the irony.

ಅಸಂಭ್ರಮ ಎಂದರೆ ಗಾಬರಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ, ಅಳುಕಿಲ್ಲದ. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಗುಣವಾದ ನಿರ್ಭಯವನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ದೋಷವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿದ್ದು ಕವಿಯ ಚಮತ್ಕಾರ.

Asambhrama means unflustered, unhesitating. Turning fearlessness, usually a virtue, into a fault here is the poet’s stroke.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

ಇಂದು ಯಾರು ಬೇಕಾದರೂ ಯಾವುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆಯೂ ತಕ್ಷಣ ತೀರ್ಮಾನ ಬರೆಯಬಹುದು. ಆ ತೀರ್ಮಾನ ಎಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ಬಂತು ಎಂಬುದೇ ಅದರ ಬೆಲೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.

Today anyone can post a verdict on anything at once. How quickly the verdict came is itself a measure of its worth.

ಟೀಕೆ ಬೇಡ ಎಂದು ಶ್ಲೋಕ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಮಾಡಿ ನೋಡಿದವನ ಟೀಕೆಗೆ ಬೆಲೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಎಂದಷ್ಟೇ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದೆ.

The verse is not against criticism. It says only that criticism from someone who has tried the thing is worth more.
