ಲಲಿತಾ ಪಂಚರತ್ನ ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ. ಐದು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳೂ “ಪ್ರಾತಃ” ಎಂಬ ಪದದಿಂದ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಭಕ್ತನು ದಿನದ ಮೊದಲ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಲಲಿತಾದೇವಿಯ ಮುಖ, ಕೈ, ಪಾದಗಳನ್ನು ನೆನೆದು, ಅವಳ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸಿ, ಅವಳ ಹೆಸರುಗಳನ್ನು ಉಚ್ಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.
The Lalita Pancharatna is a morning hymn. All five verses begin with the word “prātaḥ”, at dawn. In the first hour of the day the devotee recalls the face, the arms and the feet of the goddess Lalita, praises her greatness and speaks her names.
ಲಲಿತಾ ಶ್ರೀವಿದ್ಯಾ ಉಪಾಸನೆಯ ತ್ರಿಪುರಸುಂದರಿ. ಲಲಿತಾ ಸಹಸ್ರನಾಮ ಪಠಿಸುವ ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರವೂ ಪರಿಚಿತ. ಐದು ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳ ನಂತರ ಒಂದು ಫಲಶ್ರುತಿ ಇದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ಶ್ಲೋಕದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಕೆಳಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
Lalita is Tripurasundari, the goddess of Shri Vidya worship. In homes where the Lalita Sahasranama is recited, this short hymn is familiar too. A single verse of phalashruti follows the five. We give the meaning of each verse in Kannada and English below.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳ ಅರ್ಥ
- 1 ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ನಾನು ಲಲಿತೆಯ ಮುಖಕಮಲವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ತೊಂಡೆಹಣ್ಣಿನಂತೆ ಕೆಂಪಾದ ತುಟಿ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮುತ್ತಿನ ಮೂಗುತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಳೆಯುವ ಮೂಗು, ಕಿವಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಚಾಚಿದ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು, ರತ್ನಕುಂಡಲಗಳ ಶೋಭೆ, ಮಂದಹಾಸ, ಕಸ್ತೂರಿತಿಲಕದಿಂದ ಬೆಳಗುವ ಹಣೆ ಇವುಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಮುಖ ಅದು.
At dawn I remember the lotus face of Lalita: lips red as the bimba fruit, a nose shining with a large pearl, eyes long enough to reach the ears, rich with jewelled earrings, gently smiling, the forehead bright with musk. - 2 ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ನಾನು ಕಲ್ಪವೃಕ್ಷದ ಬಳ್ಳಿಯಂತಿರುವ ಲಲಿತೆಯ ತೋಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಭಜಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಕೆಂಪು ಉಂಗುರಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಳೆಯುವ ಚಿಗುರಿನಂತಹ ಬೆರಳುಗಳು, ಮಾಣಿಕ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಚಿನ್ನದ ಬಳೆ ತೋಳ್ಬಂದಿಗಳ ಶೋಭೆ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿವೆ. ಅವು ಕಬ್ಬಿನ ಬಿಲ್ಲು, ಹೂವಿನ ಬಾಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಂಕುಶವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದಿವೆ.
At dawn I worship the arms of Lalita, like creepers of the wish-fulfilling tree. Her fingers, tender as young shoots, glow with red rings, and her bracelets and armlets of ruby and gold shine. Those arms hold the sugarcane bow, the flower arrows and the goad. - 3 ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ನಾನು ಲಲಿತೆಯ ಪಾದಕಮಲಗಳಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅವು ಭಕ್ತರ ಇಷ್ಟಾರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸದಾ ನಿರತವಾಗಿವೆ, ಸಂಸಾರಸಾಗರವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಸುವ ದೋಣಿಯಾಗಿವೆ. ಕಮಲಾಸನ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮನೇ ಮೊದಲಾದ ದೇವಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರು ಅವನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಕಮಲ, ಅಂಕುಶ, ಧ್ವಜ, ಸುದರ್ಶನ ಚಕ್ರದ ರೇಖೆಗಳು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿವೆ.
At dawn I bow to the lotus feet of Lalita. They are ever intent on granting the wishes of devotees, a boat across the ocean of worldly existence. Brahma on his lotus seat and the other chief gods worship them, and they bear the marks of the lotus, the goad, the banner and the Sudarshana discus. - 4 ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ನಾನು ಪರಶಿವೆ, ಲಲಿತೆ, ಭವಾನಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅವಳ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತುಗಳಿಂದ ಅರಿಯಬೇಕು, ಅವಳ ಕರುಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಕೊರತೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ವಿಶ್ವದ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ, ಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ಲಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವಳೇ ಕಾರಣ. ಅವಳು ವಿದ್ಯೆಯ ಒಡತಿ, ವೇದ, ಮಾತು ಮತ್ತು ಮನಸ್ಸುಗಳಿಗೆ ನಿಲುಕದಷ್ಟು ದೂರದವಳು.
At dawn I praise Lalita, Bhavani, the consort of the supreme Shiva. Her glory is to be known from the Upanishads, and her compassion is without flaw. She is the cause of the creation, sustenance and dissolution of the universe. Whoever recites at dawn these five lovely verses on Mother Lalita, which bring good fortune, to them Lalita, quickly pleased, gives learning, prosperity, pure happiness and endless renown.

ಈ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರವನ್ನು ಆದಿ ಶಂಕರಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ರಚಿಸಿದರು ಎಂದು ಪರಂಪರೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಂಕರರ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹಲವು ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಗಳಂತೆ ಇದರ ಕರ್ತೃತ್ವವನ್ನು ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಖಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಲು ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಲಲಿತೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡಪುರಾಣದ ಲಲಿತೋಪಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಲಲಿತಾ ಸಹಸ್ರನಾಮದ ದೇವತೆ.
Tradition attributes this hymn to Adi Shankaracharya. As with many short hymns under his name, the authorship cannot be settled with historical certainty. Lalita is the goddess of the Lalitopakhyana of the Brahmanda Purana and of the Lalita Sahasranama.

This is a pratah smarana hymn, a hymn of morning remembrance. The verb changes from verse to verse: smarami (I remember), bhajami (I worship), namami (I bow), stuve (I praise), vadami (I speak). Worship that begins as a memory in the mind comes to rest as names upon the tongue.
ಎರಡನೇ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವಿಯ ಕೈಗಳಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕಬ್ಬಿನ ಬಿಲ್ಲು, ಹೂವಿನ ಬಾಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಂಕುಶ ಲಲಿತೆಯ ಪರಿಚಿತ ಆಯುಧಗಳು. ಅವಳ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ಆಯುಧ ಪಾಶ ಈ ಶ್ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಛಂದಸ್ಸು ವಸಂತತಿಲಕ, ಪ್ರತಿ ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳು.
The sugarcane bow, the flower arrows and the goad in verse 2 are Lalita’s familiar weapons. Her fourth, the noose, is not named in this verse. The metre is Vasantatilaka, fourteen syllables to the line.

ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣು ತೆರೆದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಫೋನಿನ ಸುದ್ದಿ, ಸಂದೇಶಗಳು ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಬಿಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಈ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ದಿನದ ಮೊದಲ ಕೆಲವು ನಿಮಿಷಗಳನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರ ರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ, ಕೆಲವು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಹೆಸರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೀಸಲಿಡಲು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ದಿನ ಹೇಗೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಆ ದಿನದ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಮೇಲೂ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವರ ಅನುಭವ.
The moment we open our eyes in the morning, the news and messages on the phone rush in and fill the mind. This hymn asks us to keep the first few minutes of the day for one beautiful form and a few good names. Many of us find that the way a day begins colours the mood of the whole day.
