This is a song in praise of Sita Devi, the daughter of the earth. The line that closes each charana asks her to protect us. The three charanas describe her beauty, her compassion and her greatness one by one.

- ಪಲ್ಲವಿ ಓ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮಗಳೇ, ಸೀತಾದೇವಿ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡು. ಪಾಪವಿಲ್ಲದವರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಧ್ಯಾನಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಖ ಚಂದ್ರನಂತೆ ತಂಪಾಗಿ ಹೊಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ.
O daughter of the earth, Sita Devi, protect me. ರಚನೆ ಸರಳ. ಪಲ್ಲವಿಯ ಎರಡು ಸಾಲುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮೂರು ಚರಣಗಳು, ಪ್ರತಿ ಚರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಸಾಲುಗಳು ಇವೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ಚರಣದ ನಂತರ ಭೂತನಯೇ ಪಾಲಯ ಎಂಬ ಪಲ್ಲವಿಯ ಸಾಲು ಮತ್ತೆ ಹಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾವು ಅದನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿ ಚರಣದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಕ್ಷಿಪ್ತವಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
The form is simple: a pallavi of two lines and three charanas of two lines each. After each charana the pallavi line Bhutanaye Palaya is sung again. We give it briefly at the end of each charana.

The text was converted mechanically from the Roman original, so a few words are unclear. In charana 2 we give the closing word bhavukasantati as an unbroken stream of well-being, in gist. In charana 3 we take the closing words as the acts of carrying out, sustaining and taking away. Both readings may be open to some doubt.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today
ರಸ್ತೆ ದಾಟುವಾಗ ಮಗು ತಾಯಿಯ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿಯುವಂತೆ ಕೇಳುವುದನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ದಾರಿ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದಲ್ಲ, ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದರೆ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದು ತಾಯಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಇರುವಿಕೆ.
Think of a child asking its mother to hold its hand while crossing a road. The child may know the way, yet a held hand makes it braver. What it needs is the mother being near.
ಈ ಹಾಡಿನ ಪ್ರತಿ ಚರಣದ ನಂತರ ಬರುವ ಮನವಿಯೂ ಅಂತಹದ್ದೇ: ಭೂತನಯೇ ಪಾಲಯ, ಅಂದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿ. ನಮ್ಮ ದೈನಂದಿನ ದಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಟುವಾಗ ನಾವೂ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸರಳವಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿತವನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.
The plea after each charana is of the same kind: Bhutanaye Palaya, hold my hand. Crossing the roads of our own days, we too sometimes wish for a hold as plain as this.
