These three verses are a salutation to a divine pair. One is Gir, which means speech, and the other is Lalitambika. Each verse closes with the line namo namo girlalitambikabhyam.

The verses describe the two together. They say the pair are worshipped by the gods, grant boons to those who take refuge, and dwell at Shringadri and Kanchipura. The text was converted from a Roman original.

Salutation again and again to Gir and Lalitambika, who bear the load of the submarine fire of the ocean of desire, who are made known by the mantra containing the syllable ee, and who adorn the face of Brahma and the lap of Shiva.

ಈ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆAbout this hymn

This is a hymn of three verses from the stotra section of the website of the Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham. The source names no author, so we name none. We give no date either.

Each verse has the same shape. The first three lines name qualities of the pair, and the fourth returns as namo namo girlalitambikabhyam. Every address is in the dual form, meant for both together. The source does not say who the two are, so we say only what the text shows.

The text was converted mechanically from the Roman original, so small spelling slips are possible. In verse 2 we take ekaksharishilanalabdhapadbhyam as feet won by practice of the single-syllable mantra. In verse 3 we give ajasyashambhvankavibhushanabhyam in gist as adorning the face of Brahma and the lap of Shiva. Both readings may be open to some doubt.

ಇಂದಿನ ಬದುಕಿಗೆFor life today

Picture a couple walking together to a temple. Their steps keep one pace. Even without words, going together gives the walk its meaning.

Each verse of this hymn is offered to the two together in one salutation. In our own lives too, the best work is often done when two walk together.
