This is a song for the arati offered to the river Tunga. It has a pallavi and four charanas. The words jaya tunge matah in the pallavi are the refrain of the song.
The pallavi hails the river that joins the Shringa mountain. The charanas describe her as one who carries bathers across, is worshipped by the learned and is full of sweet water, and the last says that sadgurus led by Sri Shankara made use of her water.

This is an arati song to the river Tunga from the website of the Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham. The source names no author, so we name none. We give no date either.
Returning to the pallavi after each charana is the usual way of such songs. In three of the charanas a bracketed address, amba, appears.
In the second charana the bracketed word is bhrisha. It looks to us like a slip for amba, which stands in the other three places. We keep the text as the source gives it and leave the word out of the meaning.
The Kannada text was converted mechanically from Devanagari, so a few spellings may contain slips.

For life today
Many families have the habit of sitting together in the evening to sing one song. By the end, whose voice is whose is forgotten and all become one sound.
The refrain jaya tunge matah is a line of that uniting kind. A line anyone can sing easily brings a household together for a moment.
