The wicked man suddenly does harms that the mind cannot even reach. Whether his own mind ever touches cruelty at all, I cannot tell.
About this subhashita
Agochara is what lies outside the range of the senses or the mind. The poet says we cannot even imagine such acts.
The word jane comes twice in the second line. It helps catch the tone of wonder. This is our reading, and other readings are possible.

For life today
Being shocked by cruelty is a sign that our minds are still alive. The shock should not be allowed to dull.
The verse leaves a question and gives no answer. Since we cannot know another’s inner mind, we can weigh only his deed.
